Who stands behind the practice
About
Veriato Advocacia is dedicated to one subject only: giving effect in Brazil to family decisions made outside the country.
I am Bianca Veriato, a Brazilian attorney registered with the Bar of Minas Gerais (OAB/MG) under number 143.401, with a practice dedicated to international family law — and to recognition of foreign judgments before the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) in particular.
I handle family decisions made outside Brazil — divorce, custody, support, property division and adoption — so that they take effect here. This covers both the direct recording of consensual divorces at Brazilian civil registries and the recognition action before the STJ.
This is not a general practice that also does recognition: it is the whole subject. When a request falls outside this area, I say so and refer you to a colleague.
Education and research
- Law degree, Faculdade Pitágoras.
- Postgraduate specialisation (lato sensu) in International Trade Law, completed in 2014.
- Research in public and private international law, focusing on UN peacekeeping operations and state responsibility, with academic awards in the field.
Languages
I work and review documents in Portuguese, English, French and Spanish, with experience in translation and international communication — which speeds up reading foreign judgments and certificates and dealing with clients and lawyers abroad.
How I work
- Remotely, for Brazilians in any country, with hours adjusted to the client’s time zone.
- Documents by email, in PDF, organised by me according to the requirements of the registry or the STJ.
- A note at every change of stage, with a concrete date for the next update — never “soon”.
- In-person meetings, if you wish, in Belo Horizonte and Brumadinho (Minas Gerais).
